BUILDINGS
AND STRUCTURES
This endorsement is awarded to individuals who have a demonstrated
capability in applying instructional skills within the context of
building/structural environments.
PACI members with building/structural endorsements are authorised
to:
Conduct activities within the scope of their endorsement that do
not lead to a formal qualification; and
Act as a guide within the scope of their endorsement where no formal
training is to take place; and
Conduct training activities in building/structural environments within
the scope of their classification & endorsement which lead to
a formal qualification.
Performance Requirements
To qualify, an individual must:
- Be at least 18 years of age; and
- Be in good physical condition
for operating in building/structural environments and submit
proof of medical fitness. If a medical
examination is required, the form must be signed by a licensed
physician and state that the applicant is fit for working in
natural cliff environments. The physician signing the form must
not be
the applicant; and
- Have been operating in building/structural
environments for 12 months with proof of experience. Experience
must be gained
in at least three
(3) different buildings/structures. When determining minimum
experience:
experience must include selecting and using a range of stuctural
anchors found on top of buildings/structures
competency is required in installing anchor systems which require:
-diversions to redirect the direction of load
-assessing the underlying integrity of the supporting structure
to ensure the selected anchor points are solid and secure
-counter-weight anchors and portable clamping devices require special
knowledge and skills to ensure the correct installation and use.
4. Have a current recognised qualification in senior first aid and
CPR.
5. Critical underpinning knowledge:
-AS 4488.1 and AS448.2
-Code of practice for working at height (ie, above 2.4m)
-OH&S legislation to ensure a safe workplace
in a public place
-electrical hazards such as neon signs
-electromagnetic transmitters (radio frequency / ionizing radiation
hazards)
-delicate surfaces such as glass windows
Renewal:
1. Annual submission of a completed, signed PACI Membership
Renewal Agreement; and
2.
Annual PACI membership fees paid.
NOTE: PACI members must be in active status before they can represent
themselves as being authorised to conduct/supervise training related
activities.
