resources and course paperwork.
PACI has produced some of the finest learning resources in the
world, and content gets updated and improved regularly.
It is important to understand that no printed learning content
can replace face-to-face instruction with a competent and experienced
instructor. PACI learning resources are there to assist you in your journey,
but will never replace an instructor! Your instructor is your primary source
of learning.

Health and Fitness
|
|
Mandatory.
You must be fit and healthy for working at height
- and this includes wearing and being suspended in a full body harness.
Note that in many cases, you would have a duty to perform a basic rescue if
something went wrong. For example, all tower workers are expected to be
able to perform a rescue to get an injured worker safely down from the
tower.
You have a legal duty to disclose any medical condition
that could impact upon your safety of the safety of others.
For example, if you have severe allergic reactions to insect
stings that could cause you to go into shock and/or die, you have a duty to
disclose. Or, if you have an existing back injury that is incompatible with
suspension in a harness, this type of occupation may be unsuitable for you!

Mandatory minimum age.
The minimum age is 18 years - and
if you are under the age of 18 the law considers you to be a child.

encourage you to bring it to the course.
On some courses, your instructor may provide PPE for
group use. You will be responsible for any PPE that is in your care during
training. You will be liable for any wilful or intentional misuse of PPE
and equipment.

Clothing and personal comfort:
Check with your instructor to confirm clothing PPE
requirements.

workplace, you should wear clothing that complies with site rules

For outdoor training:

COMPREHENSIVE KNOT STUDY GUIDE
Some courses require the use of hand tied knots.
Rope access
students (ISO 22846) will be expected to learn and master a range of knots
- the following are considered to be fundamental:

Some specialist height safety courses will also require
students to learn knots (eg roof access and tower
climbing).
